ABSTRACT Herbal medicines have been used worldwide since ancient times due to their natural origin, safety, cultural acceptance, and therapeutic effectiveness. However, conventional herbal dosage forms such as powders, decoctions, and syrups suffer from significant limitations including poor bioavailability, instability, variability in phytochemical content, large dose size, and lack of patient compliance. These drawbacks restrict the global acceptance and clinical utilization of herbal medicines. Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS) represent a modern pharmaceutical approach designed to enhance the therapeutic performance of drugs by controlling the rate, time, and site of drug release. Application of NDDS to herbal drugs provides scientific validation, standardization, and improved efficacy. Kalanchoe pinnatum (family: Crassulaceae), commonly known as Air Plant or Miracle Leaf, is a well-known medicinal plant with proven anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, nephroprotective, antioxidant, anti-ulcer, and wound healing properties. Despite its medicinal importance, its therapeutic application is limiteddue to poor solubility and inconsistent absorption. The present work focuses on the Comprehensive approach of herbal novel drug delivery system, where Kalanchoe pinnatum extract is formulated into a tablet dosage form using pharmaceutical compression techniques. The study involves plant collection and authentication, extraction, pre-formulation studies, formulation development, tablet compression, and evaluation parameters. This approach aims to improve stability, bioavailability, dose uniformity, and patient compliance, thereby bridging traditional herbal medicine with modern pharmaceutical technology as per DBATU academic standards Keywords: , [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
