ABSTRACT

Emotion is an affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, hate, or the like, is experienced, as distinguished from cognitive and volitional states of consciousness. There are any of the feelings of joy, sorrow, fear, hate, love, etc. If any strong agitation of the feelings actuated by experiencing love, hate, fear, etc. and usually accompanied by certain physiological changes, as increased heartbeat or respiration and often overt manifestation, as crying or shaking. Smile is an instance ofthis. Something that causes such a reaction: the powerful emotion of a great symphony. In psychology and philosophy, emotion is a subjective, conscious experience characterized primarily by psycho physiological expressions, biological reactions and mental states. Emotion is often associated and considered reciprocally influential with mood, temperament, personality, disposition and motivation. It also is influenced by hormones and neurotransmitters such as dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin, oxytocin, cortisol and GABA. Emotion is often the driving force behind motivation, positive or negative. An alternative definition of emotion is a "positive or negative experience that is associated with a particular pattern of physiological activity.
