ABSTRACT

Introduction: Mutravaha srotas which is responsible for urineformation and excretion, can undergo various pathologicalchanges (Sroto Dushti) leading to disorders like Mutraghata(urinary obstruction), Ashmari (renal calculi), andMutrakrichhra(pianful mituration) Understanding these vikaras(pathologies) through an Ayurvedic view helps in earlydiagnosis and holistic management. Materials and Methods:A comprehensive literature review of Ayurvedic texts(CharakaSamhita, Sushruta Samhita etc) was conducted, alongwith a comparative analysis of modern medical concepts. Thestudy also examines clinical cases of Mutravaha Srotasdisorders treated with Ayurvedic therapies. Discussion: Themajor Sroto Dushti types affecting a Mutravaha Srotas areAtipravritti (excessive urination), Sanga (obstruction),Vimargagamana (abnormal urine flow), and Siragranthi(vascular obstructions). Ashmari formation is linked to Kapha- Pitta prakopa and can be managed through herbal lithotriptic formulations likePashanabheda (Bergenia ligulata) Mutrakricchra which is associated with kapha and pittaprakopa can be managed by snigda Verechana. Mutraghata which is associated withVatadusti and responds well to Basti therapy. Conclusion: A precise understanding ofMutravaha Srotas vikaras allows for effective Ayurvedic intervention. Ayurveda's holisticapproach to Mutravaha Srotas vikaras including dietary and lifestyle modifications can beusefull.
