ABSTRACT

The Jwarahara Dravyas of the Guduchyadivarga, occupy a central role in Ayurvedic chikitsa in the management of Jwara (fever), which is considered one of the most critical disease conditions described in classical texts. Herbs like Guduchi, Nimba, Vasa, Parpataka, and Sindhuvara etc., exhibit Tikta Rasa, making them particularly effective in pacifying Pitta dosha, which is commonly aggravated in Jwara (fever). Clinically, they are relevant in viral fevers, malaria, dengue, typhoid, even covid-19 and post-febrile debility.Guduchi proved to be a boon during covid pandemic. Their broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, hepatoprotective, and antipyretic properties bridge the ancient Ayurvedic understanding with modern biomedical relevance. Thus, the Guduchyadivarga, provides a holistic and foundational pharmacological group for fever management in both acute and chronic contexts, aligning with the Ayurvedicprinciple of treating the root cause rather than just the symptom.

Keywords: Bhavaprakasha Nighantu, Guduchyadivarga, Jwara.
