ANATOMICAL DEFORMITIES: CHALLENGES - AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW OF AYURVEDIC AND MODERN PERSPECTIVES

ABSTRACT Anatomical deformities, due to their complex aetiology, variable presentation, and long-term functional impact, are a major clinical challenge. While in modern science, anatomical deformities result from genetic, developmental, neuromuscular, traumatic, and degenerative origins, in Ayurveda, these are conceptualized as Dosha imbalance, Beejadosha, Dhatu-kshaya, Srotodushti, and Garbhaja Vikriti. Ayurveda basically mentions about various factors being responsible for such conditions i.e matraj, pitraj, atmaj, rasaj, satmyaj. Modern diagnostics and corrective intervention, despite advances in both, face difficulties in complete functional restoration in many cases. This review aims at critically analysing the challenges associated with specific anatomical deformities through the Ayurveda and modern anatomical viewpoint by highlighting conceptual differences, diagnostic limitations, and therapeutic constraints. An integrative understanding mayprovide better preventive and rehabilitative strategies. Misconducts often contribute to the non favourable conditions that hampers the well defined structures in a progeny.
