TO ASSESS THE ROLE OF MANSIK BHAVAS IN THE ETIOPATHOGENESIS OF ANIDRA (INSOMNIA)’- A LITERARY REVIEW
Dr. Archana Modi*, Prof. (Dr.) Avadhesh Kumar, Dr. Prem Kant Yadav
ABSTRACT According to Ayurveda, nidra is one of the most important elements that contribute to a healthy existence. It is one of the three pillars, or trayopastambhas, that support an individual's health. Excellent scientists from every nation have attempted to investigate the nature and causes of sleep. In Ayurveda, anidra is not described as a distinct illness, and as a result, there is no Samprapti. Anidra's dushya involvement is described based on the Dosha. Sleep is the unintentional absence of knowledge or mental waves. A condition of awareness when the sense of existence is retained is called dreamless sleep. Perceptual senses rest in the mind while we sleep, and the mind rests in the awareness, which rests in the being. The intricate confluence of Atma, Sharira, and Satva is life. As a result, the mind, body, and soul are interdependent. The person sleeps after withdrawing from their objects due to exhaustion of the mind and indriyas. Impaired general mental functioning, alpa Satva, vitiation of both sharirika (vata, pitta, and kapha) and manasa dosha (rajo and tama), as well as vitiation of manovaha srotasa, are said to be the causes of anidra. Vitiated vata causes bhaya, shoka, moha, dinta, and other problems and hinders Manas' enjoyment. In the etiopathogenesis and aggravation of the condition, these Mansika bhavas are essential. Manas play an important role in the loss of sleep The heart communicates with the brain and the rest of the body in following ways i.e. neurologically, biochemically, biophysically and energetically.
