ABSTRACT

At present times telepharmacy is a most exciting and innovative approach in the healthcare sector. Telepharmacy is the online platform through which pharmacists can provide pharmaceutical care or services to patients by using telecommunication technology and information technology. The term „electronic prescribing‟ is an automated data entry system in which a physician is able to electronically fill and send a prescription to the pharmacy. The main advantage of e-prescription is to eliminate the problem of interpreting illegible handwriting, and it has the potential to do much more.[1] Telepharmacy has been effective in improving accessibility and efficiency and enhancing medication safety, chronic disease management and patient outcomes, and e-prescriptions prevent the manual error which can lead to a severe health condition in the patient. Telepharmacy and e-prescription in association with machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) are transforming the healthcare sector.[2] The demand for telemedicine solutions boosts ML and AI, as it is enhancing operational efficiency, improving patient outcomes and personalising care delivery. Various technologies like telemedicine platforms, AI-assisted prescription verification and the potential for enhancing patient care through telepharmacy and e-prescription are emerging. Additionally, machine learning algorithms help in providing the pharmacists and healthcare providers with actionable insights into patient behavior and enhance real-time medication adherence tracking. It informs healthcare professionals, policymakers and stakeholders about the present state and promising prospects of AI in telepharmacy in delivery efficient, accessible, and quality pharmaceutical services.[3]
