ABSTRACT

Herbal peel-off masks have gained wide popularity, as they are gentle, versatile, and well tolerated across different skin types. In the present work, a novel peel-off mask was developed using coconut water as the central ingredient, supported by a blend of skin-beneficial natural components. Coconut water, rich in minerals, amino acids, and cytokinins, was chosen for its ability to hydrate, rejuvenate, and protect the skin against oxidative stress, making it ideal for restoring radiance to tired or dull skin. To complement these effects, aloe vera juice was added for its soothing, moisturizing, and anti-inflammatory properties, while vitamin E acted as a potent antioxidant to defend against free radical damage. Avocado seed powder served as a natural exfoliant, promoting smoother texture and a healthy glow. Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) and polyvinyl alcohol were used as film-forming agents, creating a smooth base that spreads evenly and peels off comfortably. Rose water contributed a refreshing aroma and mild toning benefits, whereas ethanol (5%) aided rapid drying and imparted antibacterial action. A small amount of benzyl alcohol ensured stability by preventing microbial growth. The final formulation was systematically evaluated for color, odor, texture, pH, spreadability, drying time, peelability, and folding endurance, all of which showed satisfactory results. Overall, the prepared herbal peel-off mask demonstrated excellent stability, ease of application, and effective film formation, while delivering multiple skincare benefits, including deep cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, and rejuvenation, making it a promising natural cosmetic option.
