Abstract

A REVIEW ON GUNA SIDDHANTA: AN INSIGHT INTO GHRITA PRAYOGA IN GULMA

ABSTRACT

Gulma is one of the eight diseases described in Nidana Sthana of Caraka samhita characterized by a symptom complex that includes complaints such as Shoola (pain) and formation of a Granthi (lump). A clearer insight into Gulma is essential to effectively utilize the textual descriptions of this obscure disease and its treatment in clinical practice. Hence, a detailed analysis of the Ayurvedic description of Gulma Samprapti and importance of Ghrita Prayoga is presented here based on Guna siddhanta along with its treatment principles.
