QUALITY CONTROL PARAMETERS AND SAFETY PROFILE OF SIDDHA HERBAL FORMULATION – THALISAPATHIRI VADAGAM

ABSTRACT Siddha medicine is a traditional system of medicine that has been practiced for centuries in South india, especially in Tamilnadu, and continues to be followed to this day. Siddha medicine developed by Siddhars. Thalisapathiri vadagam is one of the herbal formulation in siddha medicine prescribed for many diseases like kalladaippu (renal calculi), neer adaippu, piramegm (urinary tract infection). Thalisapathiri vadagam comprises a blend of fifteen ingredients which includes thalisapathiri, adhimadhuram, lavangapattai, thiri kadugu, vaal milagu. These ingredients have lithotriptic, diuretic, antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antispasmodic properties. It is important to assess Thalisapathiri vadagam for physiochemical properties, aflotoxin contamination and microbial load.
