ABSTRACT

Nutraceuticals, a fusion of "nutrition" and "pharmaceuticals," are food-derived products that offer health benefits beyond basic nutrition. They play a crucial role in disease prevention, health promotion, and overall well-being. These products include dietary supplements, functional foods, herbal extracts, and probiotics, each targeting specific physiological functions. The growing interest in nutraceuticals is driven by increased consumer awareness, lifestyle-related disorders, and the demand for natural alternatives to conventional medicines. Recent advancements in biotechnology and formulation technologies have enhanced the efficacy, bioavailability, and safety of these products. This review explores the classification, mechanisms of action, therapeutic potential, and emerging trends in nutraceutical development, emphasizing their role in preventive healthcare and personalized nutrition.
