SYNTHESIS AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF SOME NOVEL 1,2,4-TRIAZOLE DERIVATIVES
P. Prashanth Babu*, P. Upendra, D. Venkateshwar Rao
ABSTRACT A series consisting of six novel 4-(Benzylideneamino)-5-(4-methyl-2-((1-methyl-1H-benzo[d] imidazol-2-yl)methyl)thiazol-5-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-thiols (5a-f) have been synthesized with a variety of substitutions in good yields, and their antifungal activity was examined. In this case, 2-(1-Methyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)ethanethioamide (1) was used as the starting compound. All the title compounds have been characterized based on IR, 1H NMR, HRMS spectral studies, and elemental analysis. Among the target compounds, derivatives 5c, 5e, and 5f disclosed superior antimicrobial activity against the tested microorganisms. Owing to the simple and readily available raw materials, mild reaction conditions, easy operation, and good fungal activity of the title compounds, this protocol has significant potential in medicinal chemistry. Keywords: Benzimidazole, thiazole, 1, 2, 4-triazol, antimicrobial activity. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
