THE INCORPORATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN PHARMACY AUTOMATION AND ROBOTICS: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

Sahil Pawar*, Yogesh Wankhede, M.R.N. Shaikh

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACTTechnological innovations have had an outspoken effect on advancing the scope of pharmacy today. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with current pharmacy practices as well as robotics and automation is improving the efficiency of the pharmacy industry while enhancing patient safety and shifting the focus towards greater patient-centered care. This review article highlights current literature and aims to address the applications of AI technology in pharmacy with respect to automated dispensing systems, inventory control, robotic sterile compounding, and clinical decision support systems. We examine how the application of machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing is improving error, workflow, and efficiency. Moreover, this document covers the primary issues of implementation, AI-based tools, and other technology in pharmacy facing the profession: the integrity of the data, reliability of systems, the changing face of the pharmacist, and compliance with the standards in the law. The evidence suggests that AI technologies are not designed to take over the functions of the pharmacist, as it is a means to improve the current functions of safety and efficiency required in pharmacy services.

Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, pharmacy automation, clinical decision support, patient safety, robotic compounding, machine learning.
