ABSTRACT Senna auriculata is distributed throughout hot deciduous forests of India and holds a very prestigious position in Ayurveda and Sidhha systems of medicine. Phytoconstituents such as alkaloids, glycosides, flavanoids, and triterpenes have been reported in extract of Senna auriculata. Traditionally it is used to clean the hair and used by diabetic patients and in fever. The root is used to cure abdominal complaints, vomiting, urinary discharges, tumors and diarrhea. Powdered bark is used to treat toothache by applying it to the gums. The fruits are used in helminthic infections. Senna auriculata has reported the various pharmacological activities viz., antibacterial,antidiabetic, antioxidant, wound healing, anti-inflammatory, anthelmintic Activity, antiurolithiatic and hepatoprotective activities.
