ABSTRACT

The current study aimed to develop a new, simple, accurate, and economical method for simultaneous estimation of sulbactam and cefoperazone in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage form. Chromatographic separation was performed on the liquid chromatographic system Phenomenex C-18 [150 mm 4.6 mm 5 m] equipped with a quaternary pump, UV detection at 230 nm, and an auto injector. LC solution software was employed for data collection and processing. The proposed method linearity curve was constructed in the range of 252 to 750 mg/ml for SUL and CPZR, respectively, under optimising conditions. Furthermore, both precision and accuracy were confirmed by a good recovery percent of less than RSD 2%. Finally, the SUL and CPZR content of the injected formulation was determined simultaneously without prior separation using this first-ever reported HPLC method. The proposed methods were effective, precise, and environmentally acceptable for quality control of SUL andCPZR in injected formulations.

Keywords: Sulbactam (SUL), Cefoperazone (CPZR), Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide. (TBAH), Acetonitrile, Methanol.
