*Shivnath Rana, *Sana Nusrat Praween, *Dr. Md. Rashid Iqbal
ABSTRACT Withania somnifera, better known as Ashwagandha, is a powerful herb used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine, often praised for its ability to help the body adapt to stress. In recent years, it‘s gained attention for its potential to ease symptoms of stress and anxiety, conditions that affect many people in today‘s fast-paced world. Research shows that Ashwagandha‘s key compounds, like withanolides, have strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which can help reduce the physical and emotional impacts of stress. Studies have found that Ashwagandha can lower cortisol (the stress hormone), calm anxiety symptoms, and improve mood, likely by balancing the body‘s stress response system. It may also support brain health by helping to regulate important chemicals like serotonin and GABA, which play a role in mood and anxiety. This growing body of research suggests that Ashwagandha could be a helpful, P Pnatural option for managingstress and anxiety, with a good safety profile, making it a promising addition to conventional treatments. Therapeutic potential of Withania somnifera in the management of stress and anxiety is supported by both traditional knowledge and modern scientific research. Its ability to regulate cortisol, enhance neurotransmitter function, and protect the nervous system positions it as a promising adjunctive or alternative treatment in stress and anxiety management. However, further large-scale, randomized controlled trials are required to better understand the full range of its benefits, optimal dosage, and long-term safety profile. Given its minimal side effects and growing body of evidence, Ashwagandha may offer a valuable natural solution for individuals struggling with stress and anxiety in today‘s fast-paced world.
