PHYTOCHEMICAL AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF YEMENI KALANCHOE MARMORATA BAKER

ABSTRACT Kalanchoe marmorata Baker is a native plant of Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan. Kalanchoe marmorata Baker is commonly cultivated and found in some mountainous areas of Yemen and is used as an ornamental plant in the country and have traditional uses. In this research many modern analytical techniques were used for qualitative analysis of the components of this plant, UV-Visible spectrophotometric, chromatographic methods and pH-metry were applied in the analysis. Fixed oils, fats, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, flavonoids, phenols and steroids were identified. The pH was determined and the chromatographic separation and identification was carried out.
