SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF 5-CHLORO-7-SUBSTITUTED INDOLE-2, 3-DIONE

ABSTRACT

The synthesis of new di-substituted indole-2, 3-dione from 2-amino-5- chlorobenzophenone. The reaction is carried out by two steps process. Their chemical structures have been confirmed by IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy. The compounds have been screened for their antibacterial activity by Kirby - Bauer disc diffusion method. Among the compounds tested, the compound with 3A, 2A and 2B showed the most favorable antibacterial activity.
