ENZYME KINETICS: MECHANISTIC INSIGHTS AND APPLICATIONS IN MODERN BIOCHEMISTRY
Vinod B. Thombare, Vasant B. Kadam*
ABSTRACT Enzyme kinetics is a pivotal domain within biochemistry that elucidates the underlying mechanisms of enzyme‐catalyzed reactions and provides critical information regarding the rates of biochemical processes. By analyzing the catalytic behavior and efficiency of enzymes, researchers gain insights about physiological regulation of metabolic pathways, drug development, and industrial production of biomolecules. This paper provides a comprehensive investigation into basic concepts and theoretical models of enzyme kinetics, including the Michaelis–Menten model, enzyme inhibition, allosteric regulation, and advanced kinetic analyses. Both classical and modern approaches are examined to highlight their use in contemporary biomedical and biotechnological applications. We further explore current methodologies and technological advances that deepen our understanding of enzyme mechanisms, and we discuss the relevance ofenzyme kinetics in clinical diagnostics, pharmaceutical design, and synthetic biology. A critical appraisal of research trends and future directions is also presented. Keywords: . [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
