AYURVEDIC CURE FOR VARICOSE ULCER: A CASE STUDY
Dr. Deepti Brijwal*, Dr. Vishal Verma and Dr. Sheetal Verma
ABSTRACT Varicose ulcers are persistent lesions brought on by venous insufficiency that has persisted for a long time.1 The patient's quality of life is greatly impacted by these conditions, which are marked by pain, recurrent infections, and delayed recovery. 95% of cases of venous ulceration occur in the gaiter area2, particularly around the malleolar region. Ankle flare is the result of the tiny veins on the medial aspect of the ankle dilatation caused by the increase in pressure, which also causes atrophy of the veins, which are vulnerable to damage, particularly around the lower ankle area. In Ayurveda, the venous ulcer can be compared to Sirajanya dushtavrana. The Ayurvedic treatment of a 28-years-old patient, who had varicose ulcer from two years is covered in this case study. Jaluka avacharana (leech therapy), Durvadi taila (local application), and internal medications were a part of the treatment. The ulcer's healing, pain level, and overall quality of life all showed notable improvements, indicating that Ayurveda providesexcellent treatments for persistent venous ulcers. The ulcer healed completely in 50 days due to this treatment's excellent effectiveness. After 16 weeks of follow- up, no wound recurrence was detected. Keywords: Varicose ulcer, Sirajanya dushtavrana, Jaluka avacharana and Durvadi taila. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
