A REVIEW ARTICLE ON MRIDABHAKSHANJANYA PANDU WSR TO PICA DISORDER

ABSTRACT Ayurveda is the most ancient medical science. Pandu diseases mentioned in the ayurveda which characterised by changing colour of the body. There are five types of Pandu Roga, i.e. Vatika, Paittika, Kaphaja, Tridoshaja and Mridabhakshhana janya Pandu. Acharya Charaka, Vagbhatta and Madhava have explain Mridakabhakshanjanya type of Pandu. "Mridhbhakshanya" refers to a peculiar craving or consumption of non-nutritive substances, a condition that resonates closely with what modern medicine refers to as Pica Disorder. In Ayurveda, these cravings and the resulting behaviour are considered symptoms of an imbalance in the body’s doshas, particularly an issue with Vata and Pitta doshas. In this article, we will explore Mridhbhakshanya Pandu, specifically in the context of Pica disorder, examining the Ayurvedic interpretation of the condition and the modern medical approach to Pica, with a focus on its treatment and management.
