Abstract

INVESTIGATING THE EFFICACY OF UTTAR BASTI OF ASHWAGANDHADI GHRITA IN PREMATURE EJACULATION

Dr. Nidhi Kumari* and Dr. Shalini

ABSTRACT

Shukragata Vata, also referred to as Dhatugata Vata in Ayurveda, is a clinical condition associated with dysfunctions of ejaculatory function and seminal health, closely resembling premature ejaculation as understood in modern medicine. This disorder primarily results from aggravated Vata dosha, which disturbs the normal function of Shukra Dhatu (semen), leading to premature or delayed ejaculation, seminal abnormalities, and reproductive complications. Ayurvedic treatment for this condition focuses on pacifying aggravated Vata through therapies like Snehana (oleation) and Uttar Basti, utilizing herbal formulations such as Ashwagandhadi Ghrita. This specific preparation is traditionally used to balance Apana Vata, promote healthy semen production, and enhance ejaculatory reflex control, thus addressing both the physiological and psychological components of premature ejaculation. The pathogenesis of Shukragata Vata involves a combination of physical, emotional, and mental disturbances that leadto vitiation of Apana Vata, disrupting the normal ejaculatory mechanism. The treatment approach emphasizes not only the correction of Vata imbalance but also the mitigation of anxiety, grief, and fear, which contribute to the dysfunction. Analytical studies of Ashwagandhadi Ghrita reveal its therapeutic potential through its properties, such as its influence on seminal fluid and its pacifying effects on Vata. The study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Uttar Basti with Ashwagandhadi Ghrita in managing premature ejaculation by stabilizing Apana Vata and improving ejaculatory control. This research highlights the significance of understanding the Ayurvedic concept of Shukragata Vata and the therapeutic role of traditional interventions in modern sexual health management.
