CONCEPT OF RAKTASRAVA IN SHALYA TANTRA- A CONCEPTUAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT Introduction: In Ayurveda, Rakta is considered one among Saptadhatus and an important constituent as it is considered as Jeeva. It plays major role in development of various organs, in their functioning as well as in Nidana and Chikitsa of many Vyadhis. Acharya Sushruta considered Rakta as the Chaturtha Dosha in addition to Vata, Pitta and Kapha as it plays an important role in Shalya tantra. Understanding Raktasrava is essential for surgeons to ensure patients safety and surgical outcomes as controlling bleeding is crucial during and after surgical procedures. Aims and objectives: The aim of this study is to highlight the importance of Rakta and Rakta srava and including its treatment. Materials and methods: The related data is collected from various published research articles from search engines like Google scholar, Pub med journals and from the classical texts of Ayurveda.
