NANOSPONGES: A REVIEW OF TECHNIQUES AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS
Ms. Sanjana S. Agrawal*, Mr. Tejas Shelke, Ms. Nikita Gadade and Dr. Amol Wadhave
ABSTRACT Through nanotechnology, nano sponges (NS) have a great impetus to develop ongoing research in drug delivery systems. In several pharmaceutical preparations, concern about the effects and regulation of transporters on drug effects can significantly contribute to our ability to predict drug variations. nano sponges are microscopic sponges the size of a virus (250 nm-1μm) having cavities that may be filled with a wide range of hydrophobic and hydrophilic medicines also overcome issues such as medication toxicity and low absorption. This descriptive review stresses the explanation of the synthetic methods of nano sponges in addition to the advantages and applications of cyclodextrin-based NS in novel drug delivery. The method of preparation, characterization, factors affecting nano spongedevelopment, drug loading and release mechanism, recent developments in this area, and patents filed in the area of nano sponges are all highlighted in this study. Nano sponges can be formulated by crosslinking of cyclodextrin with carbonyl or di-carboxylate (Crosslinkers). Nano sponge’s technology has been explored widely for the delivery of drugs for oral administration, topical administration, and parental administration. Keywords: Targeted drug delivery system, Nano sponges, Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic drug, ?-Cyclodextrin. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
