ADVANCING FERULIC ACID THERAPEUTICS THROUGH NANOTECHNOLOGY: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTIONS AND DELIVERY SYSTEMS
Anagha Premaraj* and Dr. Aiswarya Lakshmi A. G.
ABSTRACT Ferulic acid, a bioactive hydroxycinnamic acid, exhibits a wide range of pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anticancer, hepatoprotective, antiviral, and anti-allergic effects. However, its clinical application is limited by low solubility, poor stability, and reduced bioavailability. Recent advances in nanotechnology offer effective solutions to these challenges. Various nanocarriers—such as lipid nano capsules, PLGA nanoparticles, solid lipid nanoparticles, and gold nanoparticles—have been developed to improve the delivery and therapeutic efficiency of ferulic acid. This review highlights the pharmacological actions of ferulic acid and explores its nano-based formulations that enhance stability, targeted delivery, and sustained release for treating chronic diseases. Keywords: Ferulic acid, Pharmacological activities, Nanoparticles. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
