ABSTRACT Cancer is a hereditary disease characterized by aberrant cell proliferation that can spread to other body areas. Genetic or epigenetic changes in the somatic cells cause it. Cancer is caused by tobacco use 22% of the time, infections such as HIV, hepatitis B, and Epstein-Barret virus 15% of the time, and poor diet, obesity, excessive alcohol use, and radiation exposure 10% of the time. Now there are several cancer treatment options available, including immunotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, and gene therapy. The best cancer treatment is also a stem cell transplant, but it is administered after standard treatments to assist the patient to regain their health and recover from blood loss. By 2030, it is anticipated that 22.2 million instances of cancer will be diagnosed. Humans can develop any one of more than 100 forms of cancer.
