ABSTRACT This study aims to develop herbal ointment containing Boswellia Serrata and Zingiber officinale for anti- arthritic and anti-inflammatory effects. Plant extracts that are found in plants are used to make almost all herbal ointments. Herbal ointments, like other dosage forms, are used to treat a variety of illnesses. More over 210 million Indians, or around 15% of the country's entire population, suffer from arthritis.[1,2,3] Rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory joint disorders remain prevalent conditions that often require long-term pharmacological interventions, which may be associated with adverse effects. Hence, the use of natural herbs with proven therapeutic efficacy provides a promising alternative for safer and effective treatment. Despite the fact that surgery is necessary to fully cure arthritis, we can lessen itssymptoms and associated suffering. If arthritis is treated with topical medications that work well in the early stages, surgery may even be avoided. The boswellic acids found in Boswellia serrata are well-known for their potent analgesic and anti- inflammatory properties, which are achieved via blocking pro-inflammatory mediators.[5,6,7] Zingiber officinale's strong anti-arthritic and antioxidant properties are attributed to its gingerols and shogaols. In this study, ethanolic extracts of both herbs were prepared and incorporated into an ointment base using standard formulation techniques. The herbal ointment was subjected to various physicochemical evaluations including organoleptic characteristics, pH determination, spreadability, extrudability, homogeneity, and stability testing under different storage conditions. This study demonstrates how well topical formulations including traditional medicinal herbs may be used to control inflammatory and arthritic disorders in a safer and more natural way.[8,9,10] Keywords: Anti-inflammatory, Arthritis, Boswellia serrata, Ginger, Herbal, Ointment.
