Anitha N. M.*, Murugan V. and Essakky Pandian G.
ABSTRACT Background: The Siddha medicine has been used for centuries to treat diarrhea, there is a need for evidence-based validation of its efficacy and safety. Modern research can help identify the bioactive compounds responsible for the therapeutic effects of Siddha medicines and provide a scientific basis for their use. Thaadimaathi Choornam is a traditional formulation used to treat diarrhea. Understanding its molecular structure and functional groups can provide insights into its therapeutic properties. Objective: To explore identification of bioactive compounds and Characterization of the Thaadimaathi Choornam. Methods: The functional group analysis via FTIR can be used to verify the drug’s quality and standardization, as per WHO guidelines. Results: A significant shift in peak values from 714 to 3399 in the FTIR spectrum indicates the presence of various functional groups, including phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and tannins, which may contribute to the formulation’s anti-diarrheal properties. Conclusion: All the scientific parameters Provide it is Ultra fine particles and desirable attributes of the drug. So Thaadimaathi Choornam is exhibits potent therapeutic efficacy in treating diarrhea, attributed to its excellent bioavailability.
