UNDERSTANDING DEFINITENESS OF ALGORITHM IN CONTEXT OF AYURVEDA
Dr. Ekta Loriya* and Dr. Dilip Jani
ABSTRACT Algorithms- precise, stepwise instructions-are foundational to computing and digital medicine, yet Ayurvedic diagnostics and therapeutics remain largely qualitative, reliant on practitioner interpretation. This variability limits reproducibility and integration with modern decision-support tools. The efforts are made to draw from classical Ayurvedic sources (Charaka and Sushruta Saṃhita) and algorithm theory to explore the compatibility between these two domains. It is tried to identify five core algorithmic properties-clarity, definiteness, finiteness, feasibility, and effectiveness—and demonstrate how Ayurvedic workflows can be modelled as structured, algorithmic flows (Input → Process → Output → End). This transformation clarifies diagnostic and therapeutic logic, enables digital encoding, and maintains Ayurveda’s individualized, holistic approach while fostering standardization, clinical transparency, and evidence-based practice. Keywords: Ayurveda, Algorithms, Definiteness, Clinical Decision Support, Diagnostic tool, AI in Ayurveda. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
