POWDER MICROSCOPY OF TRIPHALA CHURNA

ABSTRACT Background: The present article reveals the Pharmacognosy study of Triphala churna. Material & Method: Microscopical and organoleptic evaluations were conducted to assess the pharmacognostic characteristics of Triphala Churna. Observation & Result: The organoleptic characters of Triphala are yellowish brown in colour, astringent in taste and rough to touch. In powder microscopy studies the presence of Brachysclereid types stone cells, Elongated stone cells, Prismatic calcium oxalate crystals, Fragment of pitted vessel, Osteosclereid stone cells, Tannin content, Trichomes, Starch grains, Lignified Stone cells. Conclusion: These microscopical characteristics not only validate the authenticity of the raw materials but also aid in detecting adulteration.
