ANTI-ULCER ACTIVITY OF HYDRO ALCOHOLIC EXTRACT OF BRYOPHYLLUM PINNATUM LEAVES ON ALBINO RATS
Abhinav Rai* and Dr. Abhay Pratap Yadav
ABSTRACT This page provides a thorough assessment of the sources utilized as antiulcer agents. We have transitioned from traditional herbal medicines to preclinical data, rigorously analyzing in vivo and in vitro research that concentrate on plant extracts and identified phytochemical elements with potential anti-ulcer efficacy in hydroalcoholic solutions. The hydroalcoholic extract of Bryophyllum pinnatum leaves was examined at two dosage levels (250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg by oral administration) in rats using the ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model. The antiulcer activity was assessed by evaluating and comparing the gastric lesion area in the experimental drug group with that of the vehicle control and conventional medication groups. Ranitidine (50 mg/kg) served as the reference medication. The findings collectively indicate significant anti-ulcer efficacy against both acute and chronic ulcers, while also addressing safety profiles to developformulations that prevent ulcer formation.
