A REVIEW ON CARDIOSPERMUM HALICACABUM

ABSTRACT Cardiospermum halicacabum, commonly known as balloon vine or "mudakathan" in traditional Indian medicine, is a perennial climbing plant belonging to the Sapindaceae family. Widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, this plant has a long history of ethnomedicinal use across various cultures for its purported therapeutic properties. Traditionally, different parts of C. halicacabum, including leaves, stems, roots, and seeds, have been employed in treating a diverse range of ailments such as rheumatic pain, inflammatory conditions, skin diseases (e.g., eczema, itching), respiratory issues (e.g., asthma, cough), and gastrointestinal disorders.
