ABSTRACT

In the present era, menstrual disorders are among the most common gynecological complaints encountered in clinical practice. Among them, Asrigdara—characterized by excessive and/or irregular uterine bleeding—stands out as a prevalent issue for which women frequently seek medical consultation. It is comparable to menometrorrhagia in modern medical terminology and is recognized as a significant contributor to iron deficiency anemia in women of reproductive age. Considering the burden of this condition and the need for effective Ayurvedic management, a clinical study was conducted to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Chandanadi Choorna administered with and without Tandulodaka (rice-washed water) as Anupana (vehicle) in the management of Asrigdara. A total of 30 patients diagnosed with Asrigdara were randomly selected from the OPD and IPD of the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, and were divided equally into three groups. Group A received Chandanadi Choorna alone, Group B was administered Tandulodaka alone, while Group Creceived a combination of Chandanadi Choorna with Tandulodaka as Anupana. Each patient underwent treatment for a predefined period, and outcomes were assessed based on clinical signs and symptomatic improvement. The results demonstrated that the combination therapy in Group C was significantly more effective in alleviating the symptoms of Asrigdara, including excessive bleeding and associated fatigue, compared to either of the interventions alone. This study highlights the synergistic action of Chandanadi Choorna with Tandulodaka and supports its use as a safe, cost-effective, and holistic therapeutic approach in the management of Asrigdara.
