PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF VATTATHIRUPPI NEI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF ERUMAL (BRONCHITIS) IN CHILDREN

ABSTRACT The Siddha system of medicine focuses on Vata, Pitta, and Kapha and aims to restore balance through herbal, mineral and animal based medicines. Siddha texts describe “ERUMAL” as a disease characterized by kabam and pitham change from its own character and cause inflammation in nose, throat and lungs which may secret sputum, mucus.Vattathiruppi Nei is a classical polyherbal Siddha formulation traditionally used in the management of respiratory disorders, particularly Erumal.This study aims to analyze the phytochemical composition and evaluate potential therapeutic effects of trial medicine Vattathiruppi Nei taken from Pillaipini Maruthuvam in the management of Erumal (Bronchitis) in children. This analysis helps to explore the properties of medicine in their usage in clinical study. It is concluded the presence of certain phytochemical promote the use of Vattathiruppi Nei in Siddha medicine for Erumal and provide a scientific basis for further pharmacological and clinical evaluations.
