PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF KATTRAZHAI ENNAI IN THE MANAGEMENT OF KODIPPU KANAM (ACUTE PHARYNGITIS) IN CHILDREN

ABSTRACT

The Siddha system of medicine is one of the earliest traditional medicine systems in the world and deals with physical, psychological, social and spiritual well being of an individual. The roots of this system are interwinted with the culture of ancient Tamil civilization. Kanam is one of the aga karuna noigal. Among the kanam, Kodhippu Kanam is subtypes of the kanam. The aim of the study was to evaluate the phytochemical analysis of the trial medicine kattrazhai ennai taken from Balavagadam in the treatment of kodippu kanam (Acute Pharyngitis) and its phytochemical properties are analysed with standard procedures to prove the effectiveness of the herb used in the medicine for combined effect. This analysis helps to explore the properties of medicine in their usage in clinical study. It is concluded the presence of certain phytochemical justify the better use of the medicine Kattrazhai Ennai for Kodhippu Kanam.
