Afreen Shaikh*, Piyush Yadav, Jatin Rajguru, Nilam Khadake, Prajakta Patil and Khushi Singh
ABSTRACT Ciclopirox is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent primarily used in the treatment of various superficial fungal infections. Its unique mechanism of action, ability to penetrate keratin, and favorable safety profile make it a valuable option in dermatology and infectious disease. This review aims to summarize the currently marketed formulations of ciclopirox, discuss their pharmacological properties, and highlight clinical applications and patient outcomes. Ciclopirox is antifungal agent used for the treatment of dermatophyte infections, including tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea corporis (ringworm), and tinea cruris (jock itch). It works by inhibiting the fungal enzyme involved in the synthesis of essential components of the fungal cell membrane, leading to cell death. Keywords: Ciclopirox, seborrheic dermatitis, Hydroxypyridone, Tinea cruris, Tinea pedis, Tinea corporis. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
