ABSTRACT Acne vulgaris (AV) is a common skin condition, especially among adolescents and young adults, affecting around 85% of those aged 12 to 25. It has notable physical and psychological impacts, with prevalence influenced by genetics, environment, and lifestyle. The objective of the study was to determine the current prevalence, Impact and Knowledge of Risk Factors associated with AV among Madonna Students, Elele, Nigeria. Employing a cross-sectional survey-based design, this study collected data from a representative sample of students (400) in faculties of Pharmacy, Nursing and Medicine. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS version 22. Majority of the respondents were female aged 21-25 years; The prevalence of AV was quite high (66.1%); (43.1%) were currently suffering the disease; Anatomical location of AV was reported to be mainly facial (70.1%); negative impact of AV on psychosocial and Quality of life was mild; knowledge of risk/trigger factors for AV was very high; Age and Level of study were found to be correlated with prevalence of AV, psychosocial disorder, Quality of Life (Qol) and knowledge of risk/trigger factors whilst Gender was correlated with Qol and knowledge of risk/trigger factors. School health education about this condition is imperative in order to significantly reduce its psychosocial effects and associated negative impact on Qol.
