Abstract

MANAGEMENT OF KRIMIGRANTHI- BLEPHARITIS WITH AYURVEDIC TREATMENT PROTOCOL- A SINGLE CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT

Acharyas has mentioned about the 8 branches of Ayurveda i.e Ashtang Ayurveda and Shalakya Tantra is one of the important part of these branches. Acharya Sushruta has explained about Shalakya Tantra in details along with Nidana, Linga, Chikitsa and Updrava along with their treatment. In Sushruta Uttar Tantra acharya has explained seventy-six diseases related to Eye with their medical and surgical management in detail. Krimigranthi.[1] is one among the nine Sandhigata Roga which is correlated with blepharitis based on its signs and symptoms. The basic symptoms include swelling in lid margin, presence of micro-organisms (krimi) in junction of the eyelids and eyelashes which produces severe itching in the eyelids. Blepharitis in one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases of the lid margin which can occur at any age. The disease is usually bilateral andbecome chronic with recurrence and relapse associated with seborrhoea of scalp, trichiasis and ectropion. According to Acharya Sushruta Krimigranthi is said to be a Kaphaja Vyadhi. Its management constitutes Nidanparivarjan,a Swedana, Bhedana, Pratisarana, Rasakriya Anjana, following Pathya-Apathya. So, an appropriate Ayurveda treatment methodology can be helpful to eliminate this disease.
