HERBAL ALLIES IN GLYCEMIC CONTROL: A SHORT REVIEW OF HYPOGLYCEMIC PLANTS

ABSTRACT This study has been conducted with the aim to provide comprehensive idea to researchers with general information on medicinal plant extracts having anti diabetic or hypoglycemic activity based on relevant research articles thoroughly studied and analyzed from reputed medical journals. In this review article, reported medicinal plants extracts i.e. Carica papaya (Papaya Leaves), Juglans regia (Black Walnut Leaves) and Annona reticulata (Custard Apple Leaves) has been observed based on their natural products such as alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, tannins, terpenoids and some other active principles proven to be antidiabetic. The extracts of Carica papaya leaves, Juglans regia leaves and Annona reticulata leaves may use as an alternative and could be beneficial for diabetes treatment.
