SCIENTIFIC IMPORTANCE OF NAVJAT SHISHU PARICHARYA IN AYURVEDA: A DETAILED ANALYSIS WITH MODERN PERSPECTIVES
Dr. Ishwar Sanjay Narkhede* and Dr. Akash Munjaba Chavan
ABSTRACT Navjat Shishu Paricharya (Ayurvedic neonatal care) comprises systematic postnatal practices aimed at ensuring the optimal growth and development of newborns. Rooted in classical Ayurvedic texts such as Kashyapa Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Charaka Samhita, these practices emphasize immunity enhancement, digestive health, and neurodevelopmental support through herbal formulations, massage, and dietary protocols. Modern neonatology, while advanced in medical interventions, is increasingly recognizing the scientific validity of several Ayurvedic neonatal care practices. This article provides a comprehensive review of Navjat Shishu Paricharya, examining its physiological benefits, evidence-based validations, and potential integration with contemporary pediatric care.
