ABSTRACT Tamarind seed powder (TSP) has gained significant attention as a natural polymer due to its biocompatibility, biodegradability, and wide range of applications in various industries. This review article provides a comprehensive analysis of the properties, processing methods, and potential applications of tamarind seed powder-based polymers. The structural composition of TSP, primarily consisting of polysaccharides and proteins, makes it a promising candidate for applications in pharmaceuticals, food packaging, water purification, and biodegradable materials. Various modification techniques, including chemical and physical treatments, enhance its functional properties for targeted applications. Additionally, the environmental benefits of TSP-based polymers, such as reduced plastic waste and sustainability, are highlighted. The review also discusses current challenges, including scalability and performance optimization, and explores future research directions to expand the utility of tamarind seed powder in polymer science.
