CORRELATIVE ANALYSIS OF PACHAKA PITTA AND DIGESTIVE ENZYMES: AN INTEGRATIVE PHYSIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE
*Dr. Monika Shrawan Patwari and Dr. Gaurav Prakash Londhe
ABSTRACT Pachaka Pitta, a subtype of Pitta Dosha described in Ayurvedic physiology, is primarily responsible for digestion and metabolism. It is said to reside in the Amashaya (stomach) and Grahani (duodenum/small intestine), governing the transformation of food into absorbable nutrients. In contemporary biomedical science, digestive enzymes like pepsin, amylase, lipase, and trypsin play an analogous role in the chemical breakdown of food. This study aims to explore the conceptual and functional correlation between Pachaka Pitta and digestive enzymes, highlighting the convergence between Ayurvedic and modern physiological perspectives. By analyzing classical texts and modern biochemical data, the study seeks to validate traditional Ayurvedic concepts in light of current scientific understanding and promote integrative approaches in gastrointestinal health.
