ABSTRACT The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a topical herbal oil using Ricinus communis (castor) leaves as the principal ingredient, targeting the treatment of swelling and localized inflammation. Ricinus communis leaves are known for their potent anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, attributed to bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and ricinoleic acid derivatives. The oil was formulated using a combination of castor oil and other complementary herbal components including turmeric, ginger, camphor, and eucalyptus oil to enhance the therapeutic efficacy. The leaves were subjected to an oil infusion process, followed by filtration and blending with essential oils. The formulation aims to offer a natural alternative for managing mild inflammatory conditions, promoting circulation, and relieving pain. The oil was assessed organoleptically and stored in dark glass containers for stability. This herbal formulation provides a promising and accessible solution for managing inflammation using traditional knowledge integrated with modern formulation techniques.
