Common names for the Juglance regia include English walnut, Persian walnut, white walnut, and common walnut. Its scientific name is Juglans regia (J. regia), and it is a member of the Juglandaceae family. The abundance of phytochemical components found in walnuts, including flavonoids, carotenoids, alkaloids, nitrogen-containing compounds, and other polyphenolics, is the main cause of the variety of health benefits that walnuts provide for people.
