A REVIEW ON RECENT CHALLENGES IN PHARMACEUTICAL FORMULATIONS UTILIZED IN ADVANCED ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES FOR NEW DRUG DEVELOPMENT
K. Nagalakshmi*, Dr. P. Anitha, Pothuraju Ramudu and Kolavali Yalla Reddy
ABSTRACT Recent advancements in pharmaceutical formulations have significantly impacted the development of new drugs, presenting both opportunities and challenges in the field. The pharmaceutical industry faces ongoing issues with poor solubility and bioavailability of new molecular entities, with approximately 40% of drugs synthesized in R&D suffering from these problems. To address these challenges, novel approaches such as lipid-based nanocarriers, dendrimers, and carbon nanotubes are being employed to enhance oral bioavailability and overcome barriers in drug delivery. Interestingly, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning techniques has revolutionized drug discovery and development processes. AI-driven tools are now being used to analyze vast amounts of data, identify potential drug targets, optimize clinical trials, and design intelligent drug delivery systems. Additionally, advanced technologies like 3D printing have emerged as a key innovation in developing novel drug delivery methods, enabling rapid, safe, and cost-effective production of pharmaceutical formulations. In the pharmaceutical industry is witnessing a paradigm shift in formulation techniques, with a focus on enhancing drug bioavailability and patient compliance. From co-amorphous systems and lipid-based drug delivery systems to AI-driven approaches and 3D printing, these innovations are addressing critical challenges in drug development. As the field continues to evolve, it is crucial to consider regulatory aspects, ethical challenges, and the potential impact of these advancements on healthcare and patient outcomes.
