ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a topical cream with antibacterial properties for the treatment of skin infections. The cream was formulated using a combination of active pharmaceutical ingredients known for their antimicrobial activity, along with suitable excipients to ensure stability, spreadability, and skin compatibility. Methodology Formulation Preparation: The cream was prepared by incorporating the active ingredients into a suitable base, ensuring uniform distribution and desired consistency. Evaluation Parameters: Physicochemical Properties: Parameters such as pH, viscosity, spread ability, and homogeneity were assessed to ensure the cream's quality and suitability for topical application. Microbiological Testing: The antibacterial efficacy of the cream was evaluated using standard microbiological methods, such as the disc diffusion technique, against common skin pathogens. Stability Studies: The formulation's stability was monitored under various storage conditions to determine its shelf life and efficacy over time. The formulated cream exhibited significant antibacterial activity against the tested pathogens, demonstrating its potential as an effective topical antimicrobial agent. The physicochemical evaluations indicated that the cream possessed desirable properties for topical application, and stability studies confirmed its suitability for prolonged use. The developed antibacterial topical cream shows promise as a therapeutic option for treating skin infections. Further clinical studies are recommended to validate its efficacy and safety in human subject.
