Abstract

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL ANTI-ITCHING CREAM FROM CALENDULA OFFICINALIS EXTRACT

ABSTRACT

Itching is the general problem which causes irritation, inflammation and redness of the skin. Herbal formulation has shown massive growth and respond in the pharmaceutical market, as they have less or no side effects so these type of formulations are more preferable and trusted by the consumers. This research focused on the formulation and evaluation of herbal anti-itching cream made with the main API Calendula (Calendula officinalis). Calendula is known for its Anti-itching Property, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing effects. Dried Calendula were grinded and the API is extracted from the fine powder. The formulated Cream was subjected to physicochemical evaluations including and crude drug content uniformity. The results indicated that the Calendula officinalis based cream exhibited satisfactory organoleptic properties. The sustained release of active constituents further enhances their therapeutic value. This study concludes that herbal-based cream formulations are a viable, patient-friendly dosage form for the effective management of skin irritation or skin itching.
