LAMOTRIGINE INDUCED DRESS SYNDROME: A CASE REPORT AND REVIEW OF CLINICAL MANAGEMENT
*Navya P. and Lakshmi
ABSTRACT Lamotrigine, a frequently prescribed anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer, has been implicated in the development of Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS) syndrome. This is a rare but potentially life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction, characterized by fever, widespread cutaneous eruptions, hematologic abnormalities such as eosinophilia, and multi-organ involvement—most commonly affecting the liver, kidneys, or lungs. This report presents a case of a 55-year-old female who developed Lamotrigine-induced DRESS syndrome, with a focus on the clinical manifestations, diagnostic complexities, and therapeutic management. Keywords: Lamotrigine, DRESS syndrome, eosinophilia, hypersensitivity reaction, skin rash and fever. [Download Article] [Download Certifiate] |
