“EXPLORING THE MEDICINAL POTENTIAL OF ACANTHOSPERMUM HISPIDUM: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW”

ABSTRACT Acanthospermum hispidum, a plant species widely distributed in tropical regions, has been traditionally used to treat various ailments. This review aims to summarize the current knowledge on the medicinal properties and uses of A. hispidum. The plant has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant activities, which may be attributed to its diverse phytochemical constituents. Traditional uses of A. hispidum include treating fever, rheumatism, skin conditions, and convulsions, among others. Recent studies have validated some of these conventional uses, highlighting the plant's potential as a source of novel therapeutic agents. However, further research is needed to fully explore the plant's pharmacological properties, efficacy, and safety.
