UNVEILING THE PHARMACOLOGICAL POTENTIAL OF JATROPHA CURCAS: A COMPRENSIVE REVIEW

ABSTRACT Jatropha curcas is a woody shrub, which belongs to Euphorbiaceae family. J.curcas stem bark and leaf extracts revealed the presence of saponins, steroids, tannins, glycosides, alkaloids and flavonoids.]. Jatropha Curcas is mostly cultivated for large scale biodiesel production from its seed. Jatropha curcas is appropriate for growth under adverse conditions, like drought, low nutrient supply and salinity. Phytochemical studies of the genus Jatropha have increased in recent years due to the high potential of these species as natural sources of bioactive compounds. Biological Activity Observed in Jatropha Curcas are Anti-Arthritis, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-Pyretic, Anti Diabetic, Anti-Oxidant etc. Jatropha Curcas Nuts Are Used as Contraceptives.
